Sitting Around Gets a Bad Rap(port).

Dan and I have had two days sitting around. I don't know, I'm not sick of it yet. Right now we are watching Kitchen Nightmares on my brother's 72" TV (we are estimating that figure based on the fact that it is slightly more than two of our TV). We hung out in downtown Punta Gorda all morning, and it was pretty cute. I know no one reading this (other than my PUs) really knows anything about Punta Gorda, but it was surprisingly pleasant to walk around and eat in the little historic downtown area. The weather has been deceitfully cool. So deceitful it was that we ate our grinders from Big D's Chicago Eatery outside. I know no one reading this really knows how much I hate dining outdoors, but it was surprisingly pleasant (and even my own idea!). Dan kept saying how he wouldn't mind living in one of The Residences at The Sunloft Center. I gently reminded him that it is February right now and a relatively dry 80 degrees. You all do the math, cause I ain't got no calculator.

Tennessee was foggy on our drive down. I do like that fog. We should have recognized this as a clever foreshadowing of woes to come. In particular, the PT's inability to drive past Lenoir City without needing a new Cam Sensor. SO AWESOME!! No, not awesome. We spent two hours sitting in the Dodge customer's lounge with three snacking grammar school students and their lone parent. They were actually pretty well behaved, aside from the gummy sneaking.

Other than this serendipitous fog, my favorite part of driving to Florida from Cincinnati has always been Kentucky's melty icicle display.

Dan and I never stay in the classiest places, it's true (though we learned our lesson early on with ye olde Scottish Inns). This notice made me sad. Why would anyone use the hotel's washcloth on his car? It's like when we walked out of King's Island past the kid trying to sell the welcome photos, and, after countless thwarted attempts at memory making he defeatedly mumbled something like, "That's okay, just ignore me", and it made my heart sick for him.

Punta Gorda represent! And Dan with his Spencer Pratt hair. In truth, this plaque was not that interesting to read.

As an aside, we devoted a fair amount of time on the drive down perfecting our "I want Heidi to myself!" pantomimes. Also on the ride down, we saw a billboard for some den of debauchery whose tag was, in quotes "Need we say more?". And so we kept quoting that about absurd things. Like, such as, we would say, "Fried chicken. (air quotes) Need we say more?". I just thought you should know.

I would like to get into this club, because, in my life, turtles are the new cows.

Eating outside at Big D's. After Big D's, we drove down Tamiami to Pies & Plates because "No visit to Punta Gorda is complete without a gooey butter cake from Pies & Plates!" I've lived my whole life having never completed a visit to Punta Gorda, until now. And the gooey butter cake, flavor: chocolate peanut butter, was quite delicious.

Forever with this face! So often do I make this face that I made it even on my wedding day. Oh, self.

Anyhow.

We had a coupon for BOGO mini pecan pie. 89 cents, okay, and mini to be sure. But Dan found it to be quite satisfactory. I don't really like pecan pie. Once I made myself throw it up like spinach because I am the youngest.

In case you were wondering what makes Bonnie the awesomest, I present to you this Bahamian souvenir from her to me. A gourd and string turtle toy...

...whose function is to blow everyone's minds. When you release the string, see, the turtle runs away. We played it with Tater a couple of times, and, while he was terrified as is Tater's way (to the point that he was afraid of Abraham's car seat because it rocked a couple of times), he stopped it with his pounced paw, and it was the cutest.

Also, I got to eat at Luigi's last night, and it was good as ever. Maybe even gooder.

Also, also, here in Florida, Dan and I saw a spider try to conquer a wasp. The wasp crawled away, though, and the spider retreated to his web. It was pretty creepy but very scientific.

I'm glad you and Tater love the turtle! That butter cake thing sounds pretty amazing.

You are leaving soon and I am so excited for you. I had my Bible study for you both last week!

Love you friend!

Bonnie, the turtle has been a hit with everyone. I want more. You are the best international gift giver. I will try to match your skills in Korea.
